What the site does
The fabric cutting planner turns piece requirements into a shopping quantity, cutting list, and diagram from one deterministic layout. Seven focused calculators handle repeated-piece yardage, backing, binding, HSTs, block count, borders, and sashing.
Important defaults—such as usable width, seam allowance, rotation, safety allowance, backing overage, and purchase increment—are visible and editable. Results explain the assumptions used.
What the site does not claim
The cutting planner uses a bounded practical heuristic. It prioritizes valid, strip-friendly cuts and deterministic results; it does not claim to prove the global minimum fabric use. Calculator defaults are planning conventions, not substitutes for pattern instructions, measuring the actual quilt top, or a longarmer's requirements.
Privacy and operation
Calculations run in the browser. Projects may be saved in this device's local storage, but QuiltClarity has no account, upload, application backend, or cloud project store. Analytics, when a deployment connects a provider, use fixed tool/action identifiers and exclude project names, labels, notes, measurements, quantities, and results.
How to verify or challenge a result
Read the calculation methodology, reproduce the worked examples, and check the visible assumptions in your result. The feedback page has the current status of feedback submissions.
